Versapak Partial Urine Sampling Kit (BPK2)

The Versapak Partial Urine Sampling Kit (BPK2) is used for the safe storage of athletes’ partial urine samples. User-friendly, reasonably priced and totally secure, the BPK2 has all the same security protocols of the Versapak Urine Sampling Kit (DTC2).

Key components of BPK2

Screw capped 100ml capacity glass bottle (x1)

The 100ml glass bottles has a black screw cap to identify it as a partial sample.

A tamper evident bottle label shows the P sample number (which is also embossed on the security canister).  The label is positioned on the sample bottle in a way which allows the total volume of urine to be checked.

When filled, the glass bottle is secured out of sight inside the HDPE security canister.

HDPE security canister (x1)

Embossed with the same unique numbering found on the glass bottle, the black HDPE security canister has the same high security as that used in the complete Versapak Urine Sampling Kit (DTC2).  By placing the sample bottle inside a security canister, many extra layers of security and protection are provided.

The canister itself is manufactured from high density polyethalene (HDPE).  Unlike a glass bottle which can be breached and covertly repaired, the Versapak security canister cannot be breached or repaired without showing obvious signs of tampering.

The canister lid has an interference fit with a double bore seal - once closed, the canister cannot be opened without showing visible evidence.

An additional obstacle to tampering is created by the simple fact that the contents of the bottle are not visible.

These extra levels of security are why Anti-Doping organisations, governing bodies of sport and major event organisers trust Versapak anti-doping equipment to provide them with a secure means with which to store partial samples.

Absorbent pad (x1)

In the unlikely event of the bottle breaking during storage, the absorbent pad will soak up any spilled urine.

Tamper evident outer bag (x1)

The Versapak Partial Urine Sampling Kit is factory sealed in a high quality tamper-evident bag - this prevents tampering prior to sample collection, thus allowing both athlete and testing official to be confident that the equipment is in prime condition.  The tamper evident bag is numbered with the same code that is embossed onto the canister, and the bag itself is transparent so the kit components can be easily viewed and identified prior to opening.  A simple user guide is printed onto the outside of the bag.

Bottle extraction

It is impossible to extract the bottle from the security canister without causing extensive damage to the canister.

In this way the athlete and Anti-Doping officer can be sure that the partial sample has not been tampered with.

More information

For further instructions on how to use the Versapak Partial Urine Sampling Kit (BPK2) please see our User Guide section.

The Versapak Urine Collection Vessel (UCV) can also be used as a partial sample storage vessel.

In 2008 Pira International, an independent testing body, conducted extensive tests on the Versapak Urine Sampling Kit (DTC2) in order to establish the level of tamper evidence provided. In each test performed, the result was the same – whichever method was used to attempt a breach, the canister showed visible evidence of that breach.
